enter the Pavilion that amazed Paris

About the Project

In 1925, the Polish Pavilion captivated visitors at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris. It was more than an exhibition space — it was a story of a country that, after regaining independence, wanted to speak about itself through art, craftsmanship, architecture and modern design.

Polish Pavilion 1925 VR brings this story back as an interactive reconstruction of a space that no longer exists. Created by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage in collaboration with Cudawidy studio, the project brings together archival research, digital reconstruction and VR experience into one narrative.

As a result, visitors can enter the Pavilion once again: explore its architecture, artworks and atmosphere, and experience history up close — not as a description in a catalogue, but as a place to discover.

Poland
Presents Itself
to the World

After years in which Polish artists could appear at world exhibitions only under the banners of occupying powers, Poland could finally speak in its own voice — as a country that had regained independence and wanted to show the world its culture, imagination and modernity. That is why the Polish Pavilion was more than exhibition architecture. It was the visiting card of a state that was still shaping its new image on the international stage.

Don’t Just Watch the Reconstruction.
Step Inside.

In Polish Pavilion 1925 VR, history is not something viewed from a distance. The user enters a digitally reconstructed space, moves through its interiors and decides what to discover next. They can approach artworks, look closely at details, teleport with gestures and pick up selected objects, such as postcards placed throughout the Pavilion. The space also contains crystals which, when touched, activate narrated audio paths. In this way, the visit is not a passive viewing of a reconstruction, but an active encounter with history, art and architecture.
